I had the opportunity to review Metalcashcard in 2013 as part of my role as the Operational Lead for the National Metal Theft Task Force. At that time, they were in the process of introducing their system which responded to the new Cashless trading in 2012 and the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013.

I had an opportunity to review the full system including a visit to Parseq who handle Metalcashcard’s transactions. I was impressed with the system; in particular, the level of scrutiny both customers and transactions were required to meet before an account was opened or a transaction took place.

Metalcashcard met all the requirements of the new legislation and, in fact, went above the requirements of the Act in terms of Knowing Your Customer (KYC) checks. As a result, I was happy to endorse their system as fully compliant with the requirements of cashless trading set out in the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013.
